Classroom Policies
Absences
When your child is absent from school, you must send a note explaining the absence on the day he or she returns to school. If we do not receive an excuse note, your child’s absence will be considered unexcused. In the case of extensive unexcused absences, you will be contacted by a school counselor.
Behavior Expectations
In 2nd Grade, we have high expectations regarding student behavior. We use a clip system in our classroom. Each child starts on green everyday and will either clip up or down. Please look and sign their agenda everynight.
Birthdays
You may send a treat for your child’s birthday, but we must enjoy it during lunch. If you choose to send a cake, please make it is already cut into equal portions. You are more than welcome to join our class for lunch that day to celebrate with your child! Please do not send birthday party invitations to school unless there is an invitation for each child in the class.
Classroom Visits
You are always welcome to visit our 2nd grade classroom! Simply let me know when you’d like to visit so we can agree on an appropriate time. When visiting our room or any other area of the school, you must sign in at the front office and get a “Visitor’s Pass.”
Lunch Money
Please use the front pouch of your child’s Star Notebook when you send in lunch money. If you send cash, please put it in an evelope with the student name, number, and my name written on the front. If you send a check, please print the student name, number, and my name at the top of the check. If your child has a zero balance on his or her lunch account, you will receive a letter letting you know.
Specials
Your child will attend a Special every day from 8:55-9:40. Make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for P.E, which requires sneakers and clothes that are easy to move in. Please do not send your child to school in flip flops on a P.E. day.
Transportation
For your child’s safety, please send a note to school if there is a change in transportation. (For example: If your child needs to be a car rider instead of a bus rider OR your child is going to ride home with a friend on a different bus, etc…) The school will not let your child change transportation without a note. Please limit the number of transportation changes, as making regular changes can be confusing for both your child and the school.
